Senior Engineering Geologist

An established geotechnical consultancy in Exeter is looking to bring in a Senior Engineering Geologist to support delivery of ground investigation and interpretation work across residential, infrastructure and commercial sites in the South West.
Role Overview
The position is focused on technical delivery and project control. You'll be responsible for managing ground investigations from design through to reporting, with regular involvement on site.
Key Responsibilities
Design of ground investigations in accordance with BS 5930 and Eurocode 7
Supervision of site works including rotary drilling, cable percussion, window sampling and trial pitting
Detailed soil and rock logging to BS EN ISO 14688 / 14689
Scheduling and interpretation of laboratory testing (classification, strength, chemical testing)
Preparation of factual (GIR) and interpretative reports (GDR), including:
Ground models
Geotechnical risk assessment
Foundation and earthworks recommendations
Use of geotechnical data for slope stability, bearing capacity and settlement assessments
Management of subcontractors, site safety, and programme
Technical review of junior staff outputs
Requirements
Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, or Civil Engineering
Around 5-10 years' experience within UK ground investigation / consultancy
Strong logging and report writing capability
Experience running sites and managing investigations independently
Good working knowledge of UK standards and guidance
Progressing towards Chartership (GeolSoc, ICE or similar)

This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable taking technical ownership of projects and making ground-related decisions on site and in reporting
