We are seeking an enthusiastic Quest Community Phlebotomist to provide high quality phlebotomy services in the Calderdale community. The role supports a full‑time team with training and development opportunities and involves domiciliary visits.
Working Hours & Location
Part‑time, 8 am – 12:30 pm, Monday to Friday, in Calderdale.
Travel & Vehicle Requirements
You must have a full UK driving licence, a reliable vehicle, and valid business insurance to travel to various destinations during work hours.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle with business insurance.
* Compliance with all mandatory Trust training and awareness of procedures.
* Ability to travel within the Calderdale area during work hours.
* Excellent communication skills and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.
Clinical Duties
* Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
* Adhere to Trust Aseptic Non Touch Technique Policy (ANTT).
* Work unsupervised undertaking domiciliary visits.
* Undertake surveys and audits when requested.
* Attend to staff and patient queries, referring appropriately.
* Comply with all Health and Safety regulations.
* Use the visual display unit to book appointments and access the Trust intranet and work‑related e‑mails.
* Cover other staff when required.
* Complete any duties defined by the Manager/Team Leader.
Professional Duties
* Comply with all aspects of mandatory training and have awareness of all Trust policies and procedures.
Financial Duties
* Ensure stock is rotated to minimise waste.
Managing Self
* Participate in regular supervision.
* Attend all mandatory training.
* Participate in Trust annual appraisal and develop your own development plan.
* Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols.
* Adhere to the Trust’s Equal Opportunity Policy.
* Seek advice and support from your Line Manager when necessary.
* Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times.
Main Tasks
* Awareness of public user involvement in service provision.
* Carry equipment, lift and bend, and stand for long periods.
* Walk long distances across hospital, GP surgeries, and during domiciliary visits.
* Prepare work areas.
* Explain procedures to patients.
* Use persuasive skills and reassurance for needle‑phobic patients.
* Assist patients to dress and undress if necessary.
* Collect blood samples into appropriate containers.
* Record details of samples and obtain medical information where appropriate.
* Collect samples from patients with varying disabilities, behavioral problems, or those who faint/vomit, and handle distressed patients sensitively.
* Report any concerns regarding patient condition or safeguarding.
* Assist team leader and supervisor.
* Support new and less experienced colleagues with training.
* Inter‑departmental liaison.
* Be open and honest, and learn from mistakes.
