This is a unique opportunity topioneer and shape the Occupational Therapy servicein Critical Care--an evolving area that's vital to patient recovery and rehabilitation. You'll be at the forefront of developing innovative approaches to care, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support some of our most complex patients.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve conducting individualised assessments of patients, addressing needs such as: Hand dexterity, Feeding, Personal care, Splinting, Cognitive assessments, Anxiety management, Pacing.

You will be expected to work independently, providing high quality, advanced therapeutic assessments, managing patients with diverse presentations, and complex physical and psychological problems.Participating in working across both ICU/HDU.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree in Occupational Therapy, BSc(Hons) or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* HPC State Registration.
* Membership of the College of Occupational Therapy
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field
* Membership of a professional special interest group


Experience

* Postgraduate clinical experience
* Experience of working in the NHS
* Experience of supervising junior staff and occupational therapy students
* Evidence of contributing to clinical audit
* Teaching within the speciality
* Leadership


Knowledge

* High level of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge of occupational therapy techniques
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Supervisory skills
* Able to work within a team independently
* Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others
* Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
* Effective communication skills; both oral and written
* Ability to keep accurate and legible patient records
* Able to provide and receive complex and/or sensitive information
* Remain updated with professional practice and new research
* Knowledge of clinical governance and its application to occupational therapy
* Familiarity with evidence-based research that underpins amputee care
* Ability to teach in a group setting / knowledge and understanding of group dynamics
* Awareness of local, regional and national healthcare priorities.


Further

* Evidence of attendance at specialist postgraduate courses
* Evidence of CPD
* Leadership training
* Undertaken the clinical student supervisor's course


Contractual requirements

* Ability to travel between hospital sites
