Volunteer Community Library Assistant
Who are we?
v A local community library served by a team of loyal and dedicated volunteers, helping to maintain a much valued service, including providing food and drinks, community hub space, a children's and adult's library, computers, printing facilities and toys and crafts available to all ages.
Who are we looking for?
v A friendly person with positive attitude and genuine love for people and community.
v Willingness to work both front of house and in the kitchen.
v Punctual, reliable, flexible and a good team player.
v Some café or hospitality experience is ideal, but not essential - we are happy to train the right person.
v Someone who is enthusiastic and highly motivated to learn, to help and to join in
v Someone who may fulfil some of the requirements of the role, and would love to be part of a team serving the community.
v Good communication and IT skills.
v Flexibility to adapt to changing situations, moving from a generally relaxed environment to a quicker pace at busier times.
v If you have any special interests or skills, that may benefit the community in the form of a hobby group or activity, for example; crafts, arts, games, gardening or even baking. We would love to hear from you.
What is the role?
v Making teas and speciality coffees. Taking customer orders, cash handling/using the till.
v Helping with prep, cooking, general café duties including serving food to table.
v Clearing tables, washing up, and keeping the whole area clean and tidy.
v Shelving returned books, issuing library books and logging newly donated books on computer database.
v Producing promotional posters for events, activities and updates regarding the library.
v Helping people use photocopier and public access computers.
v Supporting library events and activities, such as helping out with children's reading groups, arts and crafts events, coffee mornings etc.
