Allied Health at Cabrini is a rapidly expanding and highly integrated service comprising twelve professional disciplines. The department plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the organisation.
Cabrini Allied Health offers a wide range of opportunities, including senior consultant and leadership roles, clinical stream positions, junior staff rotation and support programs, professional development and teaching opportunities, and the cultivation of strong external and university partnerships.
What the role involves:
1. Working closely with the Critical Care Stream Team Leader to ensure high quality and consistent practice across Cabrini Health
2. Delivering evidence-based clinical services within cardiothoracic and general surgical cohorts, as well as medical wards and ICU
3. Working with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and appropriate discharge planning
4. Supervising physiotherapy students undertaking cardiorespiratory placements, as well as supporting the development of junior physiotherapy staff and AHAs
5. Acting as a professional role model for students and providing students with opportunities to translate knowledge to practice in the clinical setting
6. Assisting the Grade 3 Critical Care Stream Leader with qualitive improvement initiatives
What we're looking for:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grade 2 Physiotherapist to join our Critical Care team at Cabrini Malvern. In this role, you will work across surgical and medical patient cohorts, with a primary focus on delivering postoperative care to cardiothoracic and abdominal surgical patients.
Cabrini offers specialised services across the full continuum of care. Our ICU is a 16-bed, Level 3 unit admitting more than 1,600 patients each year and is affiliated with Monash University. You will support patients undergoing a range of procedures, from minimally invasive to complex open surgeries, within a well-resourced environment that includes state-of-the-art theatres, specialised acute wards, and dedicated cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
This position is based at Cabrini Malvern and is worked Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and public holiday shifts as required.
You will have:
7. A physiotherapy degree, as well as current registration with AHPRA
8. Experience working with cardiothoracic and major abdominal surgical cohorts on the wards and ICU, as well as medical patients in an acute environment.
9. Experience working with physiotherapy students and junior staff to support clinical skill development
10. Experience assessing and discharge planning complex patients
11. Strong team approach and good communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team
12. An ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
