Environmental Technician - Dunman About The Role As a key member of the Wastewater treatment Plant Team, you will be responsible for the operation of the plant on night shift. The shift pattern will be 12-hour night shifts on a 3 on /3 off rota. You will play a vital role in maintaining compliance with environmental standards and ensuring the efficient operation of our effluent treatment systems. Working with advanced, fully automated SCADA technology, you will oversee effluent streams from cheese and whey processing to optimise plant performance and control costs. Your responsibilities will include monitoring system performance, identifying and escalating abnormalities promptly to minimize downtime, and safeguarding operational integrity. Key Responsibilities: Operate and monitor the effluent treatment plant in accordance with Dale Farm standards and safety protocols. Utilise SCADA systems to maintain environmental compliance and intervene when necessary. Collect and analyse samples, adjusting processes based on results. Record plant parameters and manage stock control using Microsoft applications. Conduct daily and weekly inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions. Maintain adequate stock of consumables to prevent downtime. Identify opportunities to optimise processes and reduce costs. Contribute ideas for continuous improvement initiatives. About The Person Essential Criteria Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) Minimum 1 year recent relevant experience in within a manufacturing or production environment Evidence previous experience of using automated systems and equipment. Proficient in MS Office applications Excellent organisation and communication skills Ability to work independently and on own initiative as well as part of a team Knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial setting. Desirable Criteria Previous experience in wastewater treatment within a food or dairy processing environment. Experience of using SCADA control systems and automated process control. Understanding of environmental compliance regulations and best practices. Experience with laboratory sampling and analysis techniques. Ability to interpret and act on data trends to optimise plant performance..
