To provide specialist Pharmacist input into the Pharmacy Production Department, University Hospitals Bristol. The unit holds ‘Specials’ (MS) and Investigational Medicinal Product licenses MIA(IMP) as well as dispensing medicines under Section 10 Exemption of The Medicines Act.
The role requires operational involvement in all aspects of the department as well as participation as an Authorised Pharmacist in the supervision, checking and release of products prepared and dispensed in the department.
The unit prepares the following product types: Parenteral Nutrition, CIVAS, Investigational Medicinal Products, other aseptic and non-sterile batches.
Appointment to Band 7 is dependent on meeting the criteria for Band 7 detailed in the Person Specification.
For those appointed at Band 6, progression to Band 7 is dependent on demonstrating achievement of the criteria for Band 7 detailed in the Person Specification, for example experience of working as an authorised pharmacist in the aseptic unit.
The post holder will join a team of Pharmacists in the Pharmacy Production Department ensuring that medicines are prepared in compliance with EU Good Manufacturing Practice and current professional standards.
The role involves operational involvement in all aspects of the department including but not limited to: supervision of personnel, specialised clean room facilities, finance, clinical trials, training and development, pharmaceutical quality systems, clinical nutrition, health and safety issues, service development, meeting and exceeding current professional and regulatory standards, ensuring that medicines are prepared in compliance with EU Good Manufacturing Practice.
