About the Role
An innovative biotechnology team working on next-generation wide-area pathogen sensors is seeking a Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician to support critical research and development in public health and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) detection.
This hands-on role is key to the daily operations of the biology lab, supporting cutting-edge genomic and molecular biology research. You’ll work closely with scientists and engineers, helping prepare reagents, maintain equipment, assist with protocol implementation, and ensure the lab runs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including reagent prep and instrument maintenance
* Maintain laboratory inventory, including consumables and equipment calibration logs
* Follow protocols for molecular and microbiological procedures under supervision
* Support both biology and engineering teams with cross-disciplinary needs
* Keep detailed and accurate records of lab procedures and outcomes
* Communicate clearly with a diverse team of scientists and technical staff
Essential Skills & Experience
* At least 1 year of hands-on lab experience (industry or academic)
* Familiarity with good laboratory practices (GLP) and aseptic technique
* Comfortable preparing media, solutions, and buffers
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data entry
* Strong verbal communication and ability to follow instructions accurately
Desirable
* BSc or equivalent in a Biological Science discipline
* Experience in writing SOPs, COSHH assessments, and lab documentation
* Experience with instrument calibration (e.g., PCR machines, pH meters)
* Familiar with stock management and lab book documentation
