Salary: Up to £44,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
Theatre Practitioner – Scrub Team – Orthopaedic Scrub experience. Full‑time role, 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern.
Main duties of the job
* Support the surgical and anaesthesia teams, preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
* Assist the anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring and airway management, and patient positioning.
* Provide post‑operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and preparing patients for discharge.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
* Set up operating theatres according to the type of surgery and specific patient requirements.
* Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
* Support and maintain a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Experience
* Orthopaedic Scrub experience.
* Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
* Ability to work under pressure, problem‑solve and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to safe surgical practice.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
