Based in Lancashire, this growing Multi Academy Trust is in a period of growth. As part of the leadership team, this role will work to drive the strategic direction of the Trust and lead the financial activities. Your new role as Chief Finance Officer:
As Chief Finance and Operations Officer, you will work closely with the CEO and Trust Executive Team to refine and implement the Trust Strategy. You will oversee non-academic aspects, lead finance and operations staff, and ensure compliance across schools. You will collaborate with School Business Managers, Headteachers, Governors, Trustees, and external partners to drive productivity and stakeholder engagement, influencing the future success of the Trust.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership to reporting teams.
2. Ensure compliance with policies on child protection, equal opportunities, confidentiality, and GDPR.
3. Maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
4. Develop relationships with suppliers and contractors.
5. Participate in training and meetings.
6. Perform other reasonable duties as required.
Financial Management:
1. Ensure the Trust meets legal and regulatory standards.
2. Oversee finance operations, budgets, and statutory accounts.
3. Develop and implement financial policies and systems.
4. Manage capital projects and funding applications.
5. Ensure long-term financial sustainability and maximize funding opportunities.
Human Resources:
1. Ensure HR policies reflect best practices and legislation.
2. Oversee staffing structures and recruitment strategies.
3. Report on employment matters to the Board.
Payroll:
1. Lead the payroll team to ensure accurate payments.
2. Ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
3. Oversee workforce reporting.
Experience & Qualifications:
Applicants must reside in Lancashire, be formally qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA), and have senior leadership experience, preferably within education. Demonstrated ability to add strategic value and manage budgets, risks, and resources effectively is essential. Experience working with a Board or Governing body is advantageous.
