Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civils
Location: Reading, UK. Day rate: £500-£550 per day (Outside IR35, depending on experience). Start date: ASAP. Contract length: 4 months.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering project based in Reading. This is a high‑impact role on a major infrastructure scheme, offering a competitive day rate and the opportunity to work with an established and forward‑thinking contractor.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for key elements of a large‑scale civils project. You will play a crucial role in ensuring financial control, maximising value, and supporting delivery teams to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all commercial aspects of the project lifecycle
* Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts and subcontracts
* Monitor project costs, forecasts, and budgets
* Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and variations
* Lead on valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
* Provide strategic commercial advice to the project team
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector
* Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
* Demonstrated ability to manage large infrastructure or civils packages
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field
* Professional membership (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential
