About The Role
The Compliance Officer role is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the Compliance function of the business. Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to regulations and industry standards, managing the Principal Contractor Licence and Integrated Management System, and ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Training opportunities are available as the role develops with the business. The role is empowered to identify areas for process enhancement and drive initiatives to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of operations. The ability to work confidently alone and as part of a friendly team is essential.
Responsibilities
* Ensure continued compliance with all relevant regulations and updates, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, GDPR, licensing, and environmental protection laws.
* Maintain the Integrated Management System, organise and lead the annual ISO audits to ensure continued certification to ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
* Maintain documentation and procedures for the Principal Contractor Licence.
* Act as the primary liaison between the company and regulatory bodies and auditors.
* Lead efforts to maintain and promote a safe working environment across projects.
* Conduct and coordinate regular risk assessments and audits across all operational sites, ensuring compliance with industry standards and ISO accreditations.
* Work with all areas of the business to implement risk control measures and mitigation strategies to reduce safety, health, environmental, and quality risks.
* Promote environmentally sustainable practices and identify areas for improving the business's environmental footprint.
* Support on-site activities through supervision, audits, and surveys where required.
Essential Skills
* Proven experience in managing and leading a Compliance function.
* Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
* Health & Safety qualification (such as SMSTS, NEBOSH Construction).
* Strong communication skills and experience with IT systems.
* Strategic thinker and problem solver with excellent project management skills.
* Valid, clean UK Driver's Licence
Desirable
* Formal qualifications in Environment, and/or Quality.
* Hold or working towards Practitioner level membership of IEMA.
