Cheshire East Council (CEC) is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) with knowledge and understanding of the Care Act, Disabled Facilities Grants, adaptations and safe moving and handling.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Grade 9 Community Occupational Therapist to join our innovative and friendly Occupational Therapy Service here in Cheshire East. The service works closely with health service colleagues and offers a wide range of learning and training opportunities and joint working across traditional boundaries.
The post holder will be based in the South of the Council (Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton, Middlewich, Nantwich) but may need to travel to other bases. The council operates a ‘flexible and mobile’ working policy with hybrid working available, with the main base at Delamere House.
About the Role
* Provide fast‑paced triaging, assessments and interventions for adults presenting at the front door with physical, learning or mental health needs that affect their ability to manage within their home environment.
* Support joint working with other community therapists, use of equipment and/or adaptations and assistive technology devices where appropriate.
* Identify the immediate needs of service users requiring adaptations to their home environment, consider their functional needs and the potential impact of the built environment to develop solutions that maintain independence and safety.
* Manage caseloads efficiently, maintaining accurate and comprehensive client documentation in line with Council policies and professional practice.

About you
* Enthusiastic and well‑rounded HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with knowledge of health and social care, keen to learn and develop skills in all areas of Occupational Therapy.
* Self‑motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously or as part of the occupational therapy team and wider MDT; strong organisational and time‑management skills required.
* Ability to provide a strengths‑based approach to care and understand a variety of conditions and their impact on individuals.
* Work autonomously within the Council’s policies and professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive client documentation.
