Real Estate is a key focus of our business. From investment and management of existing assets to major development and regeneration schemes, about 60% of our lawyers operate in the sector across a wide range of disciplines including investment, finance, development, construction, asset management, planning, environmental and dispute resolution. We are ranked by The Lawyer as having one of the UK's Top 15 Real Estate practices overall.
What you will be doing
Work will focus on all aspects of real estate work for affordable housing providers of all types and entities working in the affordable housing sector (be that investors, developers, local authorities, other consultants). Our practice covers large commercial transactions. You will be working as part of our national team so there will be opportunities to support colleagues in our other UK offices. As you will be part of the wider real estate practice, you will also have opportunities to work alongside teams delivering projects in the living and commercial sectors such as senior living and PRS schemes.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Advising institutional investors and social landlords on investments in the affordable housing sector, private rented sector and other alternative asset classes;
2. Involvement in property aspects of large regeneration schemes;
3. Advising and undertaking acquisitions of development sites for residential and mixed use schemes for social landlords and private developers;
4. Portfolio sales and acquisitions for institutional investors and social landlords;
5. Advising lenders and borrowers on the property and security aspects of residential development and infrastructure finance and working closely alongside colleagues from the Banking and Finance department;
6. Undertaking a mix of property work for social landlords and private developers, including acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures;
7. Legal research;
8. Running own files;
9. Complying with attached core competencies as appropriate to the fee earner level of qualification;
10. Building and maintaining effective client relationships;
11. Active participation in marketing initiatives;
12. Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures;
13. Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions.
What you will need

14. Newly qualified associate who has completed a seat in Real Estate;
15. Ability to take on responsibility and manage projects, independently where appropriate;
16. Client management experience and a strong client focus and a commitment to service delivery;
17. Willingness to engage with and adapt to new legal technologies and digital tools;
18. Drive and enthusiasm;
19. Aptitude for business development;
20. Commercial awareness;
21. Excellent communication skills;
22. Credibility; flexibility and a "can do" attitude; and
23. Excellent academic record.
