Role Overview
My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in motors or rotating machinery. This individual will play a key role in the design and development of next-generation electromechanical systems. The role includes leading mechanical design work, supporting technical decision-making, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design of motor assemblies, rotating equipment, and associated subsystems.
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation.
* Conduct stress, thermal, and structural analysis to validate component and system performance.
* Engage with suppliers on component selection, manufacturability, and cost optimisation.
* Participate in design reviews, offering expert insight into mechanical considerations.
* Support prototype builds, testing, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement work.
* Ensure compliance with relevant mechanical engineering standards and safety requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience in mechanical design within motors, rotating machinery, or similar electromechanical environments.
* Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor or equivalent).
* Excellent understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and mechanical analysis.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical engineering approach.
* Ability to work effectively on-site and collaborate with engineering and production teams.
Preferred Attributes
* Experience with prototype development and test validation.
* Familiarity with FEA tools and simulation workflows.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to justify technical decisions clearly.
