1to1 Group are recruiting for a Lab Technician for one of our clients in Andover. In this role you will be expected to work in a flexible, proactive manner and carry out such duties as are necessary to ensure the effective delivery of technical support.
Role Details:
·Andover.
·£13.00 per hour.
·Part-time, 3 days per week.
·Temporary on-going.
Role Responsibilities:
·To provide technical support to assigned subject areas within the Science provision.
·To ensure efficient and safe working of all relevant college resources.
·To clean, maintain and repair equipment where possible and call on outside maintenance when necessary.
·Constructing & modifying apparatus.
·To prepares, store and dispose of chemicals and solutions safely and in compliance with COSHH and other relevant legislation
·To be responsible for the security, storage, issue and return of technical resources and maintain an equipment inventory.
·To set up/prepare and maintain resources at required locations and times.
·To assist staff and students as required in the use of equipment.
·To supervise technical areas used for practical purposes by students.
·To monitor stock levels of all teaching equipment and resources and routinely arrange orders as necessary to maintain adequate supplies.
·Keeping up-to-date with health & safety requirements and with developments in practical science.
·Disposal of waste materials.
·Checking fume cupboards, pressure vessels and first-aid kits; carrying out electrical and other safety checks.
·Organising, storing and checking the condition of chemicals and equipment.
·To ensure that all paperwork is in accordance with the college’s financial and administrative systems.
Role Requirements:
·Science related qualification at level 3 or above.
·Good working knowledge of Scientific equipment, including use of and safe storage of chemicals and scientific equipment.
·Previous relevant work experience, ideally in a similar role.
·Experience of working in an educational background.
·A working knowledge of Microsoft windows and/or AppleMAC and associated packages.
·Willingness to undertake any training connected with the post.
