Job description
BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Professional to join their Submarines Business Unit on a contract basis. Based in Barrow, this role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of being on-site for three days a week. This contract is for a duration of 12 months, supporting the Defence sector, particularly within Defence & Security.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing the procurement of base spares for Integrated Combat Systems and the Inservice side of Dreadnought Spares.
2. Engaging with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective supply chain solutions.
3. Handling potentially challenging suppliers, ensuring compliance with procurement standards.
4. Coordinating occasional supplier visits, including potential travel within the UK and to France, with expenses covered.
5. Maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
6. Ensuring all procurement activities adhere to security clearance (SC) requirements.
7. Contributing to the development and implementation of procurement strategies within the Defence sector.
Job Requirements:
8. Experience in supply chain management
9. Proven ability to manage relationships with suppliers and handle difficult negotiations.
10. Strong communication and organisational skills.
11. Willingness to travel for supplier visits as needed.
12. CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential.
