The post-holder will be a member of the Sleep team within the Sleep and Non Invasive Ventilation Unit at Bristol Royal Infirmary. The unit covers a wide geographical area and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services in line with NICE NG202.
Responsibilities
* Interpretation and requesting of diagnostic tests (e.g., oximetry, respiratory polygraphy, polysomnography ± MSLT/MWT and Actigraphy).
* Determining appropriate treatment for sleep disordered breathing, including CPAP and mandibular advancement device.
* Review of patients established on CPAP.
* Plan, perform, interpret and report a range of basic and highly complex sleep study investigations and, where appropriate, initiate subsequent management.
* Perform 1:1 CPAP set‑ups for patients with additional and/or complex needs.
* Support multidisciplinary staff on the use and type of CPAP equipment for acute and elective admissions, both within and outside the Trust, including set-up, assessment and evaluation of therapy as required.
* Triage new referrals to the sleep service.
* Provide DVLA reports as requested (HCPC registrant only).
Additional duties
Support the day‑to‑day management of the workforce alongside the other Senior Physiologists, including responsibilities related to children, young people and vulnerable adults.
