Trainee / Assistant Estimator (Office-Based)

Re-Gen UK are a growing provider of construction and refurbishment services, and we are seeking a confident and proactive Trainee / Assistant Estimator to join our commercial team on a full-time, office-based basis.
This role is ideal for someone with industry experience who is looking to develop their career within estimating and commercial operations. You will play a key role in supporting the commercial team, raising and managing quotations, and ensuring jobs are commercially controlled from start to finish.
Role Overview
As a Trainee / Assistant Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and managing quotes within repairs and maintenance frameworks, supporting cost control, and assisting with the smooth commercial running of small works. You will need to be organised, self-sufficient, and comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
A strong understanding of NHF (National Housing Federation) Schedule of Rates and repairs and maintenance frameworks is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Raising and submitting detailed quotes in line with NHF Schedule of Rates
* Requesting and managing uplifts where applicable
* Chasing outstanding quote approvals to maintain workflow
* Supporting the wider commercial team with pricing and cost management
* Assisting with invoicing and commercial documentation
* Allocating works to subcontractors
* Negotiating and driving down supplier and subcontractor costs where appropriate
* Monitoring job costs to ensure profitability
* Running and managing smaller jobs independently
* Chasing outstanding payments to support cash flow
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation
Skills & Attributes
* Confident and professional communicator
* Proactive approach with the ability to take initiative
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in pricing
* Highly organised with good time management skills
* Self-sufficient and capable of managing workload independently
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Commercially aware with an understanding of cost elements
Experience & Requirements
* Understanding or background in NHF Schedule of Rates (essential)
* Ideally 3 years' experience within the construction, repairs, or maintenance industry
* Good understanding of repairs and maintenance frameworks
* Experience raising quotes and requesting uplifts
* Understanding of the key elements of costing and job profitability
* Experience supporting commercial or estimating teams is advantageous
