Wehave challenging, demanding yet highly rewarding opportunities to join ourmultidisciplinary inpatient team. We are seeking motivated individuals with apassion for older adult mental health and a commitment to support continuallyimproving quality.
Theservice consists of two inpatient wards.
Theteam at Newhaven are friendly, supportive and exceptionally caring, puttingpatient care at the heart of the work we do to improve health care outcomes andservice delivery.
We can offer up to 34.5 hours a week. Ourworking patterns are 3-4 long days/ night (07:30-20:00/19:30-08:00) across afour week period including weekends and bank holidays.
This is a part time post working 34.5 hours per week. However, wewould consider less hours for the successful candidate but would have to be aminimum of 23 hours.
This post requires working rotationalshifts.

Job responsibilities
As part of theward team, support the wards senior nursing staff by assisting them to producethe best possible standards of care and practice from within the availableresources.
Carry outassigned duties involving direct patient care in support of and supervised by aregistered nurse.
Ensureconfidentiality, dignity, privacy and respect for patients at all times.
Assist andparticipate in activities to meet occupational needs of the patients in theircare.
Carry outenhanced observations of patients/clients.
Ensure that allpatient contact is practised within the philosophy of person centred care.
Ensure that allcommunication is effective, clear and precise.
Manual handlingof patients, using lifting aids and safety intervention
Escortpatients/clients from the ward / department as required, ensuring their safetyat all times.
Maintain theorderliness, hygiene and safety of the ward/department environment.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Can demonstrate an understanding of how to promote independence and facilitate learning in others
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification (e.g., A-level, NVQ3) in Care or Level 2 qualification (e.g., GCSE, NVQ2) in care and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 3 qualification on appointment to post
* Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
* Management of Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) training
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
* Treat patients with respect and dignity
* Good basic hygiene skills (e.g. food handling, hand washing, etc.)
* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative
* Maintain confidentiality at all times
Experience
* Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
* Experience of working in a care environment
