Job Description:
Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford. Applications are invited for a Realist Researcher in the Primary Care Workforce and Learning research group led by Professor Sophie Park. The Compound Pressures project is a realist review funded by the NIHR HSDR programme. The project aims to understand how multiple and intersecting pressures, such as climate change, migration, and winter pressures, affect the organisation and delivery of general practice in the UK. The findings will inform the design of future policies, interventions, and support systems to help general practice adapt and respond effectively.
The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional team with expertise in primary healthcare organisation and design, workforce sustainability, realist evidence synthesis, qualitative research, and co-production. Responsibilities include conducting a realist review, contributing to programme theory development, data extraction, synthesis, interpretation of policy documentation and debate articles, and formulating an evidence-based programme theory. The role also involves organising and facilitating relevant PPI and stakeholder meetings and contributing to the development and delivery of the AI-focused SWARS.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD/DPhil) in a relevant subject such as public health, primary care, health psychology, epidemiology, evidence synthesis, or equivalent, with post-qualification research experience. They should possess specialist knowledge in workforce, primary care, continuity, and general practice sustainability, and be experienced in realist and qualitative methods.
The position is based at the Gibson Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG, with possible remote work arrangements. This is a full-time, 12-month maternity cover post funded by the NIHR, HSDR Programme at the University of Oxford.
We are committed to equality and valuing diversity.
