We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B remand prison based in Winchester, Hampshire. The prison houses around 706 patients and is a busy environment where no two days are the same. This role would suit a GP who enjoys a fast-paced setting. You will be focused on receptions and supporting the new intake of patients, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team including SMS prescriber, ACP and other GPs.

Wednesday 6pm-10pm
Saturday 1pm-6pm
Salary
This position is part time. You will receive an annual salary up to £131,157 per annum FTE depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management
* Prescribing for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site, as well as the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities. Include diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways.
We recognise training and development is key. Therefore we provide a training portal to facilitate your needs as well as an in-depth induction for all staff, whether you have experience of working in prisons or not. You will gain insight into Mental Health and Substance Misuse, and have the opportunity to work towards your RCGP level 2.

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these
