Plaintext Who You Are We are seeking an exceptional leader and Health and Safety practitioner to act as our interim strategic lead for the corporate Health and Safety service at Wiltshire Council. You are a specialist in health and safety law and practice, holding Chartered Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) with a minimum of ten years' experience in a senior role within the field. You will be an excellent communicator, able to provide clear advice and guidance, deliver training, and influence the entire organization by building and maintaining positive and productive working relationships. Your expertise and experience will empower you to fulfil the role of Competent Person on behalf of the Council and be the lead advisor to the organization and the Chief Executive as the statutory duty holder. What the job involves Based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, this role involves acting as the interim strategic lead for the corporate Health and Safety service. You will maintain the corporate health and safety governance structure, manage key risks and systems, and lead a small advisory team. You'll be responsible for developing the health and safety service to ensure the safety of staff and customers, fulfilling statutory obligations, and progressing key projects. This includes participating in the Council's improvement plan, which involves launching a new software platform and enhancing governance and assurance procedures as part of a comprehensive service review.
