We are hiring 2 Trainee Carousel Technicians to join our Assets & Operations Business Unit.
Work is split between Peterhead Energy Service Base (Peterhead) and MDLs Maritime House facility in Cove (Aberdeen), with travel as required to other MDL and client locations, including offshore work sites.
About the Role
The Trainee Carousel Technician will involve daily maintenance of the equipment spread and supporting operations during cable handling and quayside activities. In addition, the role will provide exposure to wider MDL operations that will build competency and experience complimenting the cable handling and Carousel operations.
Responsibilities
1.Carry out routine inspections, safety checks and preventative maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components associated with the MDL carousel equipment spread.
2.Assist experienced electrical and mechanical technicians in the daily operation of the MDL carousel equipment spread during spooling and cable handling operations.
3.Assist experienced technicians with a variety of wider MDL flexlay equipment maintenance, refurbishment and operational activities to expand technical knowledge and development.
4.To always have good timekeeping and attendance at MDL, and any college or external learning opportunities.
5.To show commitment to HSEQ and set a positive proactive attitude on HSEQ issues within the area of operation and influence. Required to report all accidents and near misses to line manager.
6.To actively participate in all aspects of HSEQ awareness, education, training and communication. Accountable for stopping a job if perceived that it is not safe to progress for personnel or the equipment/ product, or if not adhering to MDL standards or procedures.
7.To encourage the team to challenge internal and external processes, procedures and methodologies to improve the MDL operational efficiencies.
8.To actively encourage innovation within the team.
9.To work overtime, dependant on age, as required to meet carousel operation schedules or wider MDL project commitments.
10.To maintain good relationships with clients and other stakeholders, and also act as an MDL ambassador at all times.
Skills and Experience
1.Understanding of all mechanical and system components incorporated within the MDL carousel equipment spread, including drawings and design documents.
2.Understanding of basic hydraulic components incorporated within the MDL carousel equipment spread, including drawings and design documents.
3.Understanding of all electrical and drive system components incorporated within the MDL carousel equipment spread, including drawings, schematics and design documents.
4.Understanding of the importance of preventative maintenance and effective implementation on all MDL assets.
5.Understanding of operational planning and execution of cable handling activities at Peterhead Energy Service Base.
6.Process associated with basic repairs and fault finding of MDL assets.
7.Understanding of HSEQ and legislative requirements for the safe and efficient operation of the MDL carousel equipment spread, and wider MDL assets.
