If you’re the kind of person who notices the small wins, the quiet breakthroughs, the moments others might miss… this one’s for you.
We’re looking for an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Winterbourne. You’ll be supporting a child on a 1:1 basis, helping them feel settled, confident, and ready to take on the school day in their own way.
This school has a real community feel. There’s a strong focus on nurturing the whole child, building confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. You’ll feel it as soon as you walk through the door, it’s calm, purposeful, and genuinely supportive.
The role in a nutshell
You’ll be:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil
* Helping them access learning in a way that works for them
* Supporting emotional regulation and day-to-day routines
* Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to keep things consistent
* Celebrating progress, no matter how small (and there’ll be plenty of it)
The kind of support you’ll give
This isn’t about sitting at the side of a desk ticking boxes.
It’s about:
* Being a reassuring presence when things feel overwhelming
* Using structure and routine to create a sense of safety
* Encouraging independence at the right pace
* Helping a child build confidence, step by step
What we’re hoping you bring
* Solid SEN experience, ideally within a primary setting
* A calm, patient approach, you don’t flap under pressure
* Strong relationship-building skills
* A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
Got Thrive training? Amazing.
Not yet? Even better, we’ll get you set up with our free training so you can add it to your toolkit.
The good stuff
* £14.25 per hour, paid weekly (PAYE, no umbrella faff)
* Full-time, stable role
* Ongoing CPD and development opportunities
* A supportive school that values what you do
You know that feeling when a child finally gets it, or trusts you enough to try? That’s what this role is full of.
If you’re ready to be that person for someone, we’d love to hear from you.
