Focused Investigation Rape Support Officer (FIRST)Hourly Rate: £18.98 PAYELocation: Nexus House, Ashton-under-Lyne with regular visits to local districtsJob Type: Full-time (36.25 hours/week)Contract Length: 18 months starting from 7 April 2026Join our dedicated team as a Focused Investigation Rape Support Officer (FIRST) to enhance the quality and effectiveness of investigations into adult rape and attempted rape. This role is crucial in supporting investigators and ensuring victim-centred, suspect-focused, and well-supervised processes.Day-to-day of the role:Provide hands-on support throughout investigations, from initiation to conclusion.Assist in planning and guiding key lines of enquiry and delivering monthly face-to-face case review clinics.Support the use of Early Advice from CPS and improve communication between the Officer in the Case (OIC) and ISVA services.Conduct case file reviews to embed a "get it right first time" approach, reduce failures, and ensure compliance with legal standards.Work closely with CPS RASSO lawyers, district CID teams, ISVA and SARC services, and other internal and external partners to strengthen communication and joint working on rape cases.Identify themes and areas for improvement, track patterns in case file quality, and suggest improvements.Ensure new policies or improvements are effectively communicated and implemented across the organisation.Required Skills & Qualifications:PIP2 accreditation obtained within the last 3 years.Experience in handling serious and complex investigations.Strong interviewing skills with victims, witnesses, and suspects.Excellent understanding of DG6 and Op Soteria principles.Proficient in report-writing and presentation.Good communication skills, both written and verbal.Experience in coordinating specialist support.Must have a driving licence and own vehicle.Benefits:Competitive hourly rate.Opportunity to contribute to significant improvements in investigative practices.Exposure to diverse professional training and development opportunities.How to apply:To apply for the Focused Investigation Rape Support Officer position, please submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this role.
