Overview
Barnsley Council is seeking a committed and proactive Business Support Officer to support the work of the Barnsley Safeguarding Adults Board, working to the Strategic Safeguarding Partnership Manager. This is a pivotal role working alongside statutory safeguarding partners to ensure that adults at risk across Barnsley are protected through effective, collaborative safeguarding arrangements. You will contribute to the delivery of the Board’s priorities and support governance and the smooth running of the Board’s work.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Strategic Safeguarding Partnership Manager and Board Chair to ensure effective governance and oversight.
* Organise and provide support at a range of statutory meetings, producing accurate minutes and action schedules, and liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Undertake financial administration including placing orders, raising sales orders, paying invoices/internal recharges, reconciling income, updating case files where relevant, using electronic systems and in line with the Council’s financial regulations.
* Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including managers, employees and members of the public, ensuring information and communication links are maintained.
* Undertake administrative duties while dealing with interruptions, queries and conflicting demands arising from customer queries and requests.
* Contribute to the development, maintenance and review of systems and procedures to ensure effective and efficient administration of the service, in line with government legislation and guidance.
* Prepare newsletters to promote the work of the Board, changes in practice and training opportunities.
About You
* Experience of working in a business support environment.
* Proven experience of working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
* Experience of servicing meetings and minute taking directly into mobile devices at speed and with accuracy.
