Who You Are We are seeking a skilled and motivated Housing Lawyer / Solicitor to join our Legal Services team at Westminster City Council. You should be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with strong experience in housing law. An individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, you are capable of managing a high-volume caseload independently. Your excellent communication, drafting, and advocacy skills will be essential to your success, as will your proactive, solution-focused approach to legal problem-solving. What the Job Involves As a Housing Lawyer / Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a busy caseload of housing litigation matters including possession proceedings, anti-social behaviour injunctions, disrepair claims, and tenancy-related advice. You will report to the Principal Lawyer and collaborate with colleagues across Legal Services and Housing teams. Your key responsibilities include: Managing a live caseload of 50 complex housing litigation matters. Providing clear, practical legal advice to internal clients. Representing the council in court proceedings and liaising with counsel when required. Drafting legal documents and correspondence. Responding to new instructions efficiently and supporting the team during high-demand periods. The role offers a flexible hybrid working model, with time split between our Westminster office and remote work.
