We’re seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Compliance Assistant to join our Compliance team in Bournemouth. About the Role As a Compliance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our firm’s high standards across legal and regulatory obligations. Your responsibilities will include: Coordinating and undertaking file reviews alongside the Compliance Manager, recording data and flagging non-compliances. Maintaining and monitoring the firm’s limitation diary, ensuring deadlines are updated and communicated to fee earners. Monitoring key compliance reports including unauthorised undertakings, NOTI files, and telephone number discrepancies. Supporting the Compliance Manager on various reporting tasks, including old client balances, conflict searches, and risk assessments. Organising and co-delivering monthly compliance training for new starters and preparing training materials. Keeping internal templates and key compliance spreadsheets updated (Complaints, SRA Referrals, High Risk jurisdictions, etc.). Coordinating preparations for regulatory and accreditation visits (CQS, Lexcel), ensuring timelines and requirements are met. Managing the central compliance inbox, responding to queries or escalating where necessary. Assisting with the drafting of internal compliance bulletins and updates. Supporting with ad-hoc compliance projects and promoting risk awareness across the firm. Logging and analysing peer reviews and advising on any identified risk areas. What We’re Looking For A strong general education, including English and Maths (essential). Previous experience in a compliance role or within a law firm (desirable). Confident with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal software systems. Accurate typing and strong general keyboard skills (RSA Level 2/3, audio and copy typing skills are a plus). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a confident and professional manner. Strong organisational and time management skills; able to meet tight deadlines and manage competing tasks. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of discretion, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
