SENCO – Great Howarth School, Rochdale (OL12)
Great Howarth School is an independent specialist day school providing high‑quality education for boys and girls aged 7‑18 who have complex needs such as Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), ADHD and Autism.
We are looking for an inspirational SENCO who will bring leadership, communication skills, enthusiasm, resilience and vision to support the education and achievement of each young person.
Role Overview
As SENCO you will work with the Senior Leadership Team, Headteachers, Operational Directors and the Managing Director of Education Services to deliver the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families. Your role will involve a holistic, bespoke curriculum that enables young people to develop functional life skills and experience a high quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction for SEN provision across the school.
• Work effectively with local authorities to enhance the learning experience.
• Contribute to high‑quality teaching and learning at all stages.
• Maintain a robust understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and SEMH education.
Required Qualifications
* Must hold a SENCO Qualification or be close to completing one.
* Must have a QTS status.
* Make a valuable contribution to the offering that young people receive at the school as part of the provision of high‑quality teaching and learning.
* Have experience of working effectively with local authorities.
* Have a passion for ensuring all young people succeed.
* Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed, and successful staff team.
* Have high aspirations for themselves and others, and a commitment to further development.
* Have a robust understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
* Have an understanding of SEMH education and how to support the additional needs associated with SEMH pupils.
