The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operational running of a portfolio of departments within Dental, OMFS and Ophthalmology Directorate as part of the Royal London Dental Hospital. The role is very busy and will include outpatient and theatre management, management of 18-week RTT, DM01 & cancer pathways, financial management of a delegated budget, general operational duties, service improvement and risk and governance management. The post holder will work closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients.
The role is based across the Royal London and Whipps Cross Hospital. You may be asked to attend other Barts Health NHS Trust sites as the service requires.
The Royal London Dental Hospitals offers a range of specialist Level 3 dental, ophthalmology and oral and maxillofacial services to North-East London. We also are a major trauma centre running a specialist oral and maxillofacial trauma service.
Main duties of the job
You will lead the day-to-day management a delegated portfolio of services. This will include RTT and cancer waiting list management, management and development of admin and clerical staff, management of rotas and timetables for clinicians in your portfolio of services and optimizing outpatient and theatre productivity in your portfolio of services, management of complaints and concerns raised by staff and patients, management of clinical incidents, audit and monitor the team against key performance indicators and maintain good team morale and culture.
This role will work closely with the patient pathway coordinators for dental services, the undergraduate dental team, service management teams, consultants, resident and trust-appointed dentists, dental nurse managers, QMUL colleagues. The role will be based between the Royal London Dental Hospital in Whitechapel and Whipps Cross University Hospital, but you may be expected to work at other Barts Health or Dental Outreach sites as part of the Dental Hospital Network.
Working in adherence to the Trust Access Policy, Governance and local Standard Operating Procedures at all times, the post holder will liaise with a number of key stakeholders to ensure the Outpatient booking process is efficient and fit for purpose, and that patients are able to access our services and receive expert clinical care.
