Key Accountabilities: Architecture, design, development, and delivery of enterprise grade data solutions within Microsoft Azure Guide and support junior colleagues to develop their data engineering skills in Azure Work closely with analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions Stay up to date on evolving technologies in this field and ensure the Data Platform and the engineering team running it, remain current and adhere to the relevant data governance and compliance policies Act as the technical product owner for the cloud analytics platform (incl. data warehouse, operational data store, semantic layer, and reference data solution) Lead the design and modelling for the Data Engineering Team Produce and own the Data Model for the new DWH using dimensional modelling techniques Provide technical direction for Data and Business Analysts on the Data Transformation rules for mapping specifications What will you need to succeed? Qualifications/ Experience: Experience in a commercial environment delivering data solutions within the following subject areas: Relational database design Data warehouse reference architectures Data migration MI/BI reporting Proven hands-on Azure Data Engineering experience in delivering pragmatic, data-led solutions to solve critical business challenges Strong Microsoft Azure expertise including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Experience working in an Agile environment (ideally utilising Azure DevOps) Financial Services industry experience (desirable) Knowledge: Leading data technologies, data storage solutions, data warehousing, data science and IT infrastructure design Strong Microsoft Azure (full stack) expertise Knowledge of data architectural patterns and data modelling (e.g. Kimball) Modern CI/CD practices Azure DevOps / VSTS (desirable) eRwin Data Modeller (desirable) Skills and Competencies: Experience in implementing dimensional models (Kimball / star schema ideally) Hands-on experience in building Synapse/Databricks or similar, based DWH as per medallion architecture. Experience in developing ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory or similar Hand-on experience in Spark (PySpark, spark SQL) Experience in using Erwin or similar data modelling technologies. – nice to have Experience of working in a regulated industry - nice to have Why us?
