Electronics Engineer - Music Technology

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced electronics engineer to join our Novation hardware team, where you’ll design our next generation of class‑leading controllers and instruments. You’ll bring enthusiasm, solid technical skills and a track‑record of product delivery, with at least three years experience in music tech, consumer electronics or a similar industry. You’ll be the design authority for your hardware and take it through its full life cycle from concept to production.
Responsibilities
* Work with Product Owners to help define features and requirements.
* Produce system‑level designs, including selection of key technologies and components.
* Design schematics and PCBs.
* Plan work and deliver against production schedules – strong analytical, estimation and communication skills required.
* Design and debug hardware, using systematic measurement, analysis and fault‑finding skills.
* Apply signal integrity, EMC and analogue debugging expertise.
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electronics Engineering (or related subject).
* Experience taking ownership of a commercial design through the full development process.
* Proven ability to design hardware balancing quality, cost and time‑to‑market.
* Strong planning, delivery to deadlines and ability to learn new skills quickly.
Optional Tech Experience
* User interfaces – screens, switch/key scanning, LED drivers, analogue control sensing and processing.
* Digital interfaces – LVDS, USB, I2C/SPI, MIDI/MIDI 2.0, SDRAM and processor interfacing.
* Linear and switching power supply design, PMICs, USB PD.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Design of cost‑sensitive products for high‑volume mass production.
* Design and debug for EMC approvals.
* Active interest in music, synths and music technology.
* Experience working with ODM/JDM/CDS models.
* Altium Designer proficiency.
