As the Ophthalmology Outpatient Receptionist & Support Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for patients attending clinics, providing a welcoming and professional reception service. Alongside reception duties, you will undertake a range of administrative tasks to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the department.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, and works well as part of a team. You will play a key role in supporting both patients and clinical staff, helping to ensure a positive and efficient outpatient experience.

Main duties of the job
* Greet patients and relatives at reception in a friendly and courteous manner
* Answer all telephone enquiries with an understanding of patient confidentiality, taking and relaying messages competently and acting as appropriate
* Maintain patient details/appointments efficiently on the patient administration system (Millennium)
* Process GP and consultant referrals to the Eye Clinic, ensuring that all referral information is accurately logged
* Book new and follow‑up appointments for the Eye Clinic
* Cancel and re‑book patients as needed
* Support the Eye Clinic administration team with booking follow‑up appointments and checking out appointments as required
* Monitor and action the department's generic email inbox and referral inbox
* Assist the anti‑VEGF service as and when needed
* Liaise with nurses, doctors, GPs and other members of the department to provide a quality service for the patients
* Ensure that patient confidentiality is always observed and adhered to, whether in person or by telephone
* Carry out other clerical duties as required, including scanning and attaching documents to patient's electronic records, updating spreadsheets, RTT / Outcome form data entry
* Be flexible to the needs of the department to ensure cover and smooth‑running of the department as a whole
