Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content‑based creations. Please note the use of AI is monitored and if applicants have used it then they are required to declare this.
The post will be based at Weston General Hospital, and will support the provision of general anaesthesia services for a variety of specialties, including upper and lower GI surgery, trauma & orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, preoperative assessment and acute pain. There will be the opportunity to work across the UHBW sites; however applicants should expect the majority of their work to focus on Weston. In addition to daytime sessions, the successful applicant will participate in the weekend on‑call rota (currently approximately 1:8) and evening sessions (currently approximately 1:8) covering emergency operations until 20:00, plus overnight on call at Weston. The Department of Anaesthesia supports the pre‑operative assessment service and acute pain service, as such the appointee will contribute to this area.
UHBW is a teaching Trust with close links to the University of Bristol. There is a strong tradition of teaching in the department and we support the running of the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre.
The applicant must hold FRCA (UK) or equivalent and be within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview or have CESR. We are looking for applicants who are prepared to work flexibly to ensure smooth service delivery and there is opportunity to develop a specialist interest.
