Overview
As a Senior Clinical Educator, you will:
* Lead on the design, delivery and evaluation of clinical education programmes for nursing and AHP staff.
* Support staff development through preceptorship, clinical supervision, and mentorship.
* Act as a role model and expert practitioner, embedding best practice and evidence-based care.
* Collaborate across professional boundaries to improve care quality and patient outcomes.
* Contribute to the strategic direction of the CSU through workforce development, quality improvement and service innovation.
* Provide leadership and oversight to junior staff, and deputise for the Matron where required.
Main duties of the job
The job holder will lead development of clinical staff (registered and unregistered) and enable the development of clinical practice mentors, assessors and key trainers, providing supervision through on-site support and Trust-wide continuous professional development activities. The post holder will be responsible for leading clinical education and associated resources in their designated clinical areas, ensuring a high standard of education.
They will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments and implement interventions for improvement. They will support mentors and assessors and ensure clinical professional development for preceptorship and other role developments, enhancing the quality of care delivery from both the registered and unregistered workforce. The post holder may be line managing a junior clinical educator depending on the clinical service unit.
You will lead the nursing contribution to service development, ensuring excellence in care. The post holder will lead on the implementation and monitoring of adherence to relevant clinical guidelines, audit and research. They will function as a role model for registered and unregistered staff within the clinical area and Trust, enabling and supporting interdisciplinary and cross-city working to share good practice and deliver high-quality, effective and efficient care.
JOBDIMENSION: The role is essential to ensure nurses and/or ODPs work within governing standards set by professional and regulatory bodies. The job holder will support, educate and develop registered and unregistered staff to meet standards for high-quality evidence-based care, and will deliver education on a Trust-wide basis across a wide range of clinical areas and departments.
They will contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of education and training of the registered and unregistered workforce, work with the senior management team to maintain the service vision and embed it in practice, identify and celebrate good practice and share with local and Trust teams. The post holder will lead by example, disseminate good practice and challenge assumptions, practice and performance where appropriate.

Knowledge, skills and experience
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse / ODP
* (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for children’s areas)
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
* Masters degree or postgraduate level development equivalent to a masters
Experience
* Significant experience in a junior leadership role (e.g., Band 6 or equivalent)
* Working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues
* Clinical experience within the specialty
