Production Planning Lead
Location: Wednesbury, West Midlands
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm, Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm (39 hours per week)
Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 + bonus

In this role, your skills will be essential to the smooth running of production processes. You will be responsible for detailing materials, machines, labour, and time requirements for jobs, ensuring that quality standards are consistently met.
The role is primarily office-based but includes regular interaction with the shopfloor. This will involve monitoring throughput, addressing issues such as staff or material shortages and machinery breakdowns, and running daily update meetings with the production team.
You will build strong relationships across the business, many of whom have long service within the company. Confidence in questioning processes and strong Excel skills for planning and reporting are essential.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and detail production equipment, raw materials (building BOMs), and labour requirements

Submit reports on throughput and production progress

Identify priority orders and plan accordingly to meet customer requirements
*
Work with management to resolve production issues, setbacks, or quality concerns
*
Support the Purchasing team in anticipating raw material requirements
*
Facilitate meetings to review contracts, discuss new production methods, and identify ways to reduce production costs
*
Prepare, complete, and file production paperwork in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
*
Support other administrative tasks relating to production planning and operations as required
About You
*
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in production planning within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Purchasing
*
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with production data
*
Ability to build strong relationships with operators and production teams
*
Highly organised, flexible, and comfortable working in a busy environment
