Position Overview
GSK is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Medical Director, Clinical Research for Hepatology Clinical Trials to lead our clinical development programs within the hepatology therapeutic area. This role involves strategic oversight, leadership, and management of clinical trials, ensuring scientific integrity and regulatory compliance. The position reports to the VP Clinical Research Head, Hepatology- Clinical Research and Early Programs in the Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation Research Unit (RIIRU).
This role requires on-site presence (minimum of two days a week) at one of GSK’s UK (London or Stevenage) or US (PA or MA) sites.
About RIIRU
The Respiratory, Immunology and Inflammation Research Unit (RIIRU), formed in 2024, focuses on identifying and advancing novel molecular targets with genetic disease associations, aiming to improve clinical success rates. RIIRU collaborates with external partners and internal research teams to develop assets up to Phase 2 studies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide strategic leadership for clinical trials in hepatology.
2. Oversee clinical trial protocols ensuring regulatory and scientific standards.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for comprehensive development plans.
4. Act as primary contact for stakeholders including regulatory agencies and investigators.
5. Ensure trial safety, integrity, and data quality.
6. Lead and mentor clinical staff, fostering innovation and excellence.
7. Manage senior clinical and physician scientists working on hepatology assets.
8. Stay updated on hepatology research, trial methodologies, and regulatory changes.
9. Contribute to hepatology asset strategy and evaluate business development opportunities.
10. Represent GSK at scientific meetings and industry forums.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* Medical degree with board certification/eligibility in gastroenterology, hepatology, or endocrinology.
* Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry and clinical academia in hepatology.
* Proven track record in clinical research, regulatory experience, and trial management.
Preferred Qualifications
* Additional degrees (PhD, PharmD, MPH).
* Minimum 5 years of experience with global regulatory agencies and clinical trials in hepatology.
* Leadership experience in clinical development programs.
