Atkinson Baker Associates is exclusively partnering with a highly respected Civil Engineering and Groundworks contractor. Due to a secured pipeline of upcoming projects starting in the Spring, they are looking to appoint an experienced Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Kent. The Role Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will take commercial ownership of groundworks packages ranging from £500k to £5m across the Kent region. You will be responsible for maximizing project margin and managing risk from tender award through to final account. Valuations: Preparing and submitting monthly interim valuations to the main contractor. Variations: Identifying, pricing, and agreeing on variations (CVI/RFI) to ensure all extra works are paid for. Sub-contractors: Procurement, payment, and management of specialist sub-contractors. Cost Control: Production of monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and cash flow forecasts. Site Presence: Regular site visits to verify progress against the programme and measure "works in the ground." The Candidate We are looking for a "safe pair of hands"—someone who can run a job from Day 1. You must have specific experience in the Groundworks, RC Frame, or Civil Engineering sectors. Experience: Strictly 4-7 years of post-graduate experience. We are not looking for a Trainee/Assistant for this post. Sector Knowledge: You must understand standard methods of measurement (SMM7/NRM) relevant to earthworks, drainage, and concrete. Contract Knowledge: Working knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms. Qualification: BSc in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (preferred but not essential if experience is strong). Driver: Full UK driving license is essential for site visits. The Package Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (Dependent on experience) Package. Location: Based permanently in Kent, managing local projects.
