Area Operations Manager Temp to Perm Opportunity Mix of home working, office based in Durham and travel to sites in the North East, North West and some parts of Scotland Salary equivalent up to £65k plus car allowance Role Objectives This role will be responsible for Operational Site Delivery of maintenance type tasks across our estate. Covering the Mine Water Treatment Works and surrounding Monitoring points, we manage on behalf of the Coal Authority. The assets we manage include - wet well pumps, bore hole pumps, MCC's, lagoons, cascades, reed beds, loggers, weir plates and chemical dosing units. • Lead a dispersed team of 14 operators working remotely throughout the area, as well as several contractors and suppliers providing services ranging from sampling, Pump exchanges, jetting, Grounds maintenance and electrical. • Continually develop a team that engages, creates the right environment and is driven to exceed business targets whilst demonstrating the right level of leadership behaviours. • Responsible for the health safety and wellbeing of your team and driving the right pro-active culture to effectively manage safety risks • Establish and maintain great working relationships with customers (internal and external). • Managing costs, budgets, emergency works, planned preventative maintenance, equipment and materials purchases, ensuring quality feedback is maintained and encouraging innovation and empowerment within your team. • Work in effective partnership with our contract partners to achieve the best outcome for the customer. • Ensure that in execution of tasks that the highest level of customer satisfaction and site standards are delivered. • Ensure KPI targets on water levels, compliance, Asset availability and Site Standards are met Key Accountabilities: Manage the region to achieve excellent budget control, site standards, asset condition and compliance Manage the team to continue to be a high performing team with an emphasis on engagement, empowerment and efficiency. Role model & drive continuous improvements in Health, Safety & Well Being. Ensure compliance with legislation, continuous improvement on standards and pro-active safety interventions. Achieve excellent KPI results Ensure all assets are maintained according to policies and standards and identify with the operational Team and client areas where the assets can be improved. Building excellent customer relationships, targeting zero complaints and an increasing positive customer satisfaction score Experience: In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have: Experience in managing maintenance teams across a large geographical area Experience working in the water or wastewater industry Experience of managing the performance of a dispersed asset base over considerable geography. Proven experience in leading and achieving sustained performance improvements from a diverse workforce, indirect and direct Track record of driving performance of a team, not accepting mediocre and addressing poor performance Proven experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders – both internal and external e.g. landowners, operators customers and regulators Previous success and passion for delivering and leading a strong health & safety culture Passion for growth and development of our Business Unit.
