About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Support Worker to join our team, providing exceptional care and support to individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Key Responsibilities:
* Provide person-centred support to individuals with PMLD, promoting their independence, dignity, and quality of life
* Safely administer prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and maintain accurate medication records
* Perform PEG and jejunostomy feeding procedures, ensuring proper technique and monitoring for any complications
* Deliver complex medical interventions as required, following individual care plans and medical guidance
* Monitor and record vital signs, health observations, and any changes in condition
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care
* Maintain detailed, accurate documentation and care records
* Support individuals with personal care needs while respecting privacy and promoting dignity
* Implement risk assessments and follow safeguarding procedures
* Provide emotional support and companionship to service users
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities
* Current medication administration certification and demonstrated competence
* Experience with enteral feeding systems (PEG/jejunostomy feeds)
* Knowledge of medical interventions and procedures relevant to complex care needs
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Relevant qualifications in health and social care (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 preferred) or willingness to work towards these qualifications as part of the role
