Job Description:
Overview: First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business seeking a Senior Engineer within a marine safety environment on a permanent basis. The role is primarily based in Bristol with an option for WFH.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide professional safety and environmental engineering support to surface ship, submarine, and commercial projects.
* Contribute safety and environmental case input to non-conformances and design changes for specified systems.
* Assist in developing non-nuclear safety and environmental assessments or cases.
* Plan and control work to meet Quality, Time, and Budget targets.
* Offer expertise and support in your engineering specialization to the safety team.
* Produce safety and environmental cases.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree qualified preferred; HND/HNC in engineering with extensive relevant experience will be considered.
* Possession of Defence Maritime Regulator’s (DMR) Ship Safety & Environmental Management Training (SEMT) or Ship Safety Management Office (SSMO) Certification is preferred (training can be arranged if needed).
* Membership of relevant institutions (e.g., IMechE, RINA, IET, SARS) with Chartered or Incorporated status, or working towards it.
* Knowledge of MOD Health Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) policies and regulations, including ASEMS (POSMS & POEMS) and DSA policies.
* Familiarity with Defence Standards and JSPs such as 00-056 and JSP 418.
* Ability to author technical reports and chair technical meetings.
* Experience constructing safety arguments using Goal Structured Notation, Claims/Argument/Evidence techniques.
* Experience facilitating hazard identification and assessment exercises (e.g., SWIFT, HazOpS, Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, FME(C)A).
* Knowledge of Naval Engineering in RN ships/submarines is advantageous.
* Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
* Environmental legislation knowledge is a plus.
* Strong presentation, written, analytical, and IT skills.
Additional Details:
Position: Senior Engineer (Marine Safety & Environmental)
Location: Bristol with hybrid working
Salary: £46,500 – £57,000
Working Hours: Monday to Friday
