Senior Buyer – Maternity Cover

Our client, a world-renowned provider of innovative and sustainable solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer for an 18-month maternity cover contract.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage day-to-day operations of direct reports, including TMS, appraisals, and PDPs.
2. Assist in implementing a category management approach.
3. Support site-specific requirements or group purchasing instructions as needed.
4. Manage re-order points for spare parts, liaise with Engineering to maintain correct stock levels.
5. Oversee consignment stocks and ensure monthly settlements.
6. Create material master data in SAP for spare parts.
7. Source non-stock engineering parts.
8. Record all cost savings for audit purposes.
9. Ensure daily SAP physical inventory checks are completed, with 100% inventory counted annually, monitoring high-value differences.
10. Assist MRP Controller with high-value or priority purchases.
11. Ensure central stores comply with safety and environmental regulations, with trained operatives and regular risk assessments.
12. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cost-saving strategies.
13. Provide stores coverage during machine shutdowns.
14. Participate in training and team meetings.
15. Undertake additional training as needed due to technological changes.
16. Be available for meetings, projects, and occasional overnight trips.
17. Monitor and improve operational procedures.
Person Specification:
* Highly motivated, analytical, with excellent purchasing, negotiating, and communication skills.
* Strong leadership to manage a small team and support departmental managers.
* Experience with SAP and MRP systems.
* Flexible and adaptable work approach.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at level 4 or above.
* Extensive supervisory purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing or heavy engineering.
* Excellent SAP MM experience with troubleshooting skills.
* Proven track record in cost reduction initiatives and negotiation.
* Category Management experience is preferred but not essential.
* Ability to manage tender processes.
