This opportunity will particularly appeal to candidates currently working as an Environmental Education Officer, Community Engagement Officer, Environmental Projects Officer, Sustainability Officer or Conservation Field Officer, who enjoy practical, people-focused work and making a visible difference within local communities. Through environmental education, community engagement and local environmental quality programmes, the organisation inspires individuals, schools, businesses and communities to take positive environmental action. About the Role Field Officers work directly with a wide range of stakeholders including schools, community groups, councils, beach operators and local volunteers. The role combines environmental education, practical conservation support, workshop delivery, event facilitation and environmental surveying across a variety of programmes. You will play a hands-on role delivering workshops and training sessions, supporting practical environmental projects, carrying out environmental assessments and surveys, and helping communities engage positively with environmental initiatives. This is a highly varied and active role that will suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with people and balancing field-based delivery with administration and reporting responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Community and School Engagement Build relationships with schools, community groups and stakeholders across Live Here Love Here programmes. Deliver engaging environmental workshops and training sessions. Support practical environmental and biodiversity projects within communities. Assist in the development of educational resources and workshop content. Participate in the planning and delivery of events and campaigns, including occasional evening and weekend work. Environmental Surveys and Assessments Complete environmental surveys and assessments across programmes including the Northern Ireland Marine Litter Survey and Borough Cleanliness Survey. Carry out audits and assessments in line with programme standards and guidelines. Maintain accurate reporting records and survey data. Complete all required training linked to assessments and surveys. Administration and Reporting Complete accurate and timely reports and administrative duties. Respond to general enquiries professionally and effectively. Create social media content in line with organisational guidelines where required. Maintain strong communication with colleagues and contribute positively to team delivery. Person Specification Qualifications and Experience Essential A third-level qualification or at least three years' equivalent experience. At least one year's experience delivering projects or programmes, including workshops or training. At least one year's experience gathering data and producing reports. Experience of practical conservation or biodiversity work. Strong written communication and report-writing ability. Competency in Microsoft 365 programmes. Full current driving licence. Desirable Experience carrying out environmental surveys. Knowledge and Understanding Essential Knowledge of environmental issues and activities within Northern Ireland. Knowledge of conservation skills and local biodiversity. Personal Qualities Essential Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills. Flexible, innovative and solutions-focused approach. Comfortable working outdoors in a range of locations and environments. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
