Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to support, maintain and enhance the organisation’s Works Order Management solution. The post holder will also contribute to developing associated interfaces, ensuring high availability, continuous improvement and effective service delivery for end users.
Job Description
As an Application Support Engineer, you will work alongside the existing Applications and Development team to deliver high quality support, maintenance and development for our Works Order Management applications. You will handle incidents, resolve problems, manage changes, develop enhancements, support testing activities and ensure integrations and interfaces remain stable and effective.
The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, users, external partners and suppliers, while ensuring solutions are delivered to specification and timescales. Occasional travel and out of hours work may be required to support service availability and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day to day support for Works Order Management systems including incident and problem resolution
* Troubleshoot service availability challenges and processing failures
* Deliver end user support including system guidance and training assistance
* Develop and implement changes ranging from small amendments to larger project based enhancements
* Support structured testing, release management and implementation of updates
* Produce technical specifications and maintain accurate documentation
* Manage and update Works Order interfaces including associated stylesheets
* Develop new mobile workflows and forms to support field operations
* Monitor associated services proactively and address emerging issues promptly
* Liaise positively with internal teams, end users, suppliers and external clients
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in an application support and development role
* Experience working within structured ICT service environments
* Strong knowledge of Web Services including API, XSL, XSLT, XML and SOAP
* Proficient in SQL and ISAM databases with strong reporting skills
* Excellent communication skills with ability to produce clear and accurate documentation
* Good telephone manner and strong customer service approach
* Effective time management and organisational abilities
* High attention to detail with commitment to accuracy
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Demonstrated initiative and ability to meet deadlines
