Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Seaton Park Community Nursing Team as a Nursing Assistant. The Trust is committed to providing opportunities for development for all staff to help reach their full potential and, if not already obtained, there is an expectation that the Care Certificate Programme will be completed.

We also provide training opportunities to enhance clinical skills required to provide high and safe quality care in line with the Trusts values.


Key Requirements

As the post requires the candidate to work in the community, access to a vehicle and holding a valid driving licence is essential for the role.


Responsibilities

* Work as a member of a wider community nursing team to deliver clinical care to patients, including the performance of diagnostic tests and the delivery of personal and delegated nursing care to individuals with chronic health problems.
* Operate unsupervised in the patient’s own home, the surgery and in residential home environments.
* Delegate responsibility to order and rotate stock to support the team.
* Undertake administrative tasks allocated by the team lead, for example, assembling patient case notes, booking rooms to facilitate the arrangement of team meetings and sickness absence meetings.
* Perform personal care tasks and clinical interventions delegated by registered nurses, including simple dressings, catheter care, eye drops etc.
* Deliver personal care and support to patients with a terminal illness and their families, including the provision of emotional support.
* Collect equipment and safe use and decontamination of such equipment between each use.
* Check equipment, stock levels and expiry dates, re‑stock and re‑order supplies as necessary.
* Communicate with patients, relatives, colleagues and other agencies to ensure continuity of patient care and onward referral where necessary.
* Maintain IT skills especially in relation to the use of General Practice clinical systems.
* Assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care.
* Provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Maintain high clinical standards.
* Help maintain a clean and safe environment.
