An exciting opportunity has arisen for Elections Admin Support Assistant to join the Democratic Services Department to support the Elections Team for six months and to assist with the organisation and delivery of the elections in May 2026.
The role
Providing essential support to the Elections Office who are responsible for:
* the organisation and delivery of elections ensuring that they are run in accordance with the law for all local and Parliamentary elections.
* maintaining the electoral register of Parliamentary and local government electors throughout the year by way of monthly updates and conducting an annual canvass.
About you
You will be responsible for a range of administrative duties to support the Elections Office, including processing paper postal vote applications and carrying out a variety of manual collation and checking of electoral literature under instruction of electoral services administrator. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the highest possible standards of support. You will need to be politically impartial and be able to manage your own workload to meet strict deadlines. Full training will be provided. Some manual work will be required, including assisting with filling ballot boxes and moving equipment upstairs as the storeroom is in a building without a lift.
There will be additional pay for extra hours worked that may be required outside of normal office hours
