37.5 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity for band 6 professional registered clinicians to join an expanding team working within CAMHS Early Help Pathway, supporting Children, Young People & Families as a CAMHS Liaison Practitioner.
This role will join an established team within the CAMHS service. The CAMHS Early Help pathway provides consultation, assessments, and targeted, short-term interventions (up to 8 sessions) within the I-THRIVE model, focusing on early intervention in children's mental health. The post holder will serve as the named Early Help liaison practitioner for schools within the locality, offering consultation, advice, and signposting to services.
The post holder is responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of children & young people, emphasizing early intervention. They will actively promote resilience, prevention, and early intervention.
The role includes contributing to the CAMHS advice & support line. It will be based on a hybrid working model, with access to office/clinical space and some home working.
This role requires relevant post-qualification experience working with children & young people within mental health, with a professional registration.
Main duties of the job
* Work as the Liaison practitioner within the Early Help pathway, delivering consultation, advice, and signposting to community services and schools.
* Implement evidence-based targeted interventions and groups, evaluated using outcome measures, ensuring timely access to assessments & interventions. Represent CAMHS in multi-agency meetings with oversight of the mental health component.
* Participate in delivering training for schools & community services. Maintain high standards of care within available resources. Engage in line management with junior staff. Liaise effectively with other CAMHS pathways and develop relationships with providers.
* Maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly with children, young people, families, and health professionals.
* Participate in clinical governance & quality initiatives. Encourage children & young people to be involved in decision-making, promoting person-centred care.
* Work across a 7-day service as required.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will support the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of children & young people, promoting resilience, prevention, and early intervention, aligning with the 2015 'Future in Mind' vision. They will act as the named Early Help liaison within the locality, linking with the Children’s Gateway, GPs, schools, and other services, providing consultation and coordinating assessments and interventions.
They will lead early help assessments, coordinate training for community professionals, and represent CAMHS in multi-agency meetings, ensuring effective and evaluated interventions, including group work and parenting programs. They will coordinate care plans, participate in training, and maintain confidentiality and high standards of care.
The role involves making clinical decisions, managing risks, and providing education to children, young people, and families about mental health issues. They will promote resilience and work across CAMHS pathways to meet children's needs effectively.
Additional responsibilities include managing complex clinical and service decisions, working in noisy or busy environments, and dealing with children with emerging mental health difficulties, including those who self-harm or are distressed.
The role requires adaptability to various environments and adherence to safeguarding policies. All employees must act to safeguard children and adults, participating in mandatory training.
Person Specification
Experience
* Post-registration experience working with children & young people with mental health difficulties.
* Knowledge of mental health assessments, including risk management.
* Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds.
* Experience in multi-agency working and managing own caseload as an autonomous practitioner.
* Experience within children's mental health and supporting students.
* Line management experience.
* Interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of legislation and policies relating to children's mental health.
* Familiarity with the I-THRIVE model and IT skills.
Circumstances
* Ability to travel across Plymouth.
* Flexible working hours and duties as required.
Qualifications
* Core qualification in nursing, social work, OT, or psychology.
* Relevant post-registration experience or equivalent Band 6 experience with children in mental health.
* Professional registration (e.g., NMC).
* Postgraduate training in children’s mental health (e.g., systemic practice, CBT, DBT).
* Clinical supervisor and assessor training for supporting students.
