At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components, and wing systems for both civil and military aircraft.
The successful fabricators will be expected to work with various industry equipment in carrying out fabrication duties. Knowledge of percussion riveting, Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels, and other skills relevant to the role are required.
The role involves working day shifts from Monday to Thursday, with opportunities to work night shifts once fully trained, which includes a 33% shift premium.
How You'll Contribute
* Working with materials like titanium, aluminium, stainless steel to manufacture aircraft parts for Airbus aircraft.
* Ensuring parts are produced correctly the first time.
* Using the SAP system for work phase clearance.
* Highlighting non-conformance issues to the Process Team Leader.
* Following GKNAF Quality Procedures.
* Adhering to Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974.
* Obtaining first-party inspection approval (M02 status, subject to A stamp approval).
* Maintaining general housekeeping within the area.
* Complying with risk assessments and Environmental, Health & Safety Procedures.
What You'll Bring
We’re looking for passionate and talented individuals with:
* A relevant apprenticeship and NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
* Ability to work well in small teams with Team Leaders.
* Good communication skills and self-motivation.
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
* Ability to operate CNC machinery like Unison Pipe Bending, Power Presses, CNC Drilling & Routing.
* Experience in swaging pipework.
