Systems Engineer – Land Communications

Role Overview
This full‑time Systems Engineer will be responsible for the discharge of work packages on key projects within our Land Communications portfolio. The role covers all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ). It will involve a minimum of three days per week onsite, with additional travel to UK customer and supplier sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for the discharge of IVVQ engineering activities to time, quality and cost targets.
* Support the planning and definition of IVVQ processes and practices.
* Conduct technical investigations into system and equipment‑level anomalies, liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
* Maintain the design and production baselines for assigned sub‑systems and/or equipment under test.
Skills and Experience
* Ability to work as part of a highly motivated and fast‑paced team supporting programme objectives.
* Experience with IVVQ work‑package planning: planning, defining and estimating IVVQ resources and activities; managing these against plan and budget.
* Strong presentation skills to internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of Systems Engineering lifecycle activities, specifically requirements definition and later IVVQ phases.
* Knowledge of the Thales Chorus 2.0 lifecycle and associated tools and processes (or equivalent).
* Experience developing test scripts against acceptance criteria and maintaining traceability to requirements.
* Hands‑on experience of reviews such as Configuration Audits, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Technical Qualification Reviews (TQRs) and Final Qualification Reviews (FQRs).
* Hands‑on equipment and system‑level testing with accurate reporting and defect logging.
* Experience of regression testing and defect rectification, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
* Good understanding of RF communications systems.
